This extendable dining room table in blackened walnut is an excellent choice for a table that will be the center of family life for a long time. The estling base with the legs in the corners is sturdy and means that the legs don't interfere with chairs. The tops of the legs come through the top of the table adding texture to the rich deep tones of the blackened walnut finish. The combination of the dark tones and the clean seymour edge lets this table visually ground a space, giving it a focal point.

The table top is just over 1" thick and has been made with locally sourced walnut.  We hand rub an all-natural oil into the wood to give it a matte finish. We like this food-safe finish because it is durable, having been originally designed for floors. 

This table is a center extension table which means that there is a split in the middle of the table where it pulls apart.  You can add one or both of the leaves here.  With center extension tables, the grain always runs widthwise.  More information can be found here.

At Loewen Design Studios, we build each of our dining tables one at a time, just for you, just the way that’s right for you. That’s exactly what we did with this one. It was inspired by another table on our site and then customized for its new home. 

Here’s how this table came to be:

The original inspiration for this table came from one we’ve built before, but the people who sit around this table now-a-days wanted to make a couple changes. (Here the inspiration table if you’re curious https://www.loewendesignstudios.com/products/square-walnut-extension-table-exposed-parsons-base) They liked the clean lines of the seymour edge and the functionality of the estling base. The main change was the finish on the wood. While they liked the varied tones that occur naturally in walnut, our customers wanted to highlight the darker tones and so opted for the blackened finish. They also chose to change the size to suit their space.

Our standard shipping process involves us sending your table with a freight carrier for curbside delivery. To send your table with a carrier, we will securely pack it up in several layers of packaging, finishing it off with cardboard. We will pack your tabletop, legs, and extensions (if applicable) in different boxes, arrange for pick up and send you the tracking information. Once your table is in your local depot, the local carrier will reach out to arrange for delivery. In this case, delivery means that your table will be delivered to the end of your driveway. From here you can bring the boxes into your home and assemble the table. Assembly is generally pretty simple and we will supply all hardware and assembly instructions. Most tables can be carried in and assembled by 2 people; larger tables may require some additional hands. These shipments are typically delivered within 7-14 days of when we ship.

We also offer white glove delivery as an option for deliveries to most metro areas of the US. (if you are wondering if white glove delivery is an option in your area, please message us). For this service we blanket wrap your table, legs and extensions and send them to our white glove delivery partner in North Carolina. Again, once the table is in your local depot, you will be able to book your delivery which means that 2 people will bring your table to your home, carry it in, assemble it and remove all the the packaging. Timelines for white glove delivery typically range from 14-28 days depending on the delivery location. Message us for more specific information for your location.

Whichever delivery option you choose, you will receive a table built specifically for you. We will build, finish and pack your table which takes 4-6 weeks. After that we arrange for shipping.
