One of the most distinctive features of this table is the edge. It has a very unique profile. The top edge is softened slightly and the underside of the table has a long bevel. The table top starts out at 1 1/4" thick but with the bevel and softened top, the edge appears thinner and more delicate. And sits more lightly in the space.
We paired this table with a walnut pedestal base. The angled legs come down from each side and cross once in the middle. This is called a single cross base.
A variation of this base is to have one set of legs come straight down from the ends and two sets of legs come straight down from each side. This style creates 2 spots on the floor where the legs cross. So we call that a double cross base.
Walnut is beautiful wood. It has great coloring. Each piece of walnut is a unique combination of reds, oranges, and browns. This table is just over 1" thick.
We finish the walnut with an all-natural oil that we hand rub into the wood. It adheres to the individual fibres and cures to a durable finish.
This style of table works well in several variations. A traditional oval, a racetrack oval which has rounded ends and straight sides, and a rectangle with gently rounded corners.
