In a small space, every last inch matters, which is why it’s so important to get the table that’s right for your space. We build tables to order so you can always make sure you get the right size table for your exact needs. In this blog, let’s talk about making sure you get the right kind of table. The right shape, and the right functionality.
SHAPE

In a small space, all the small details become bigger. When it comes to the shape of your table there are two things to pay attention to:
-
How easy is it to move around your table?
-
How much space do you have on your table?
Generally speaking, a rectangular table will give you the most table surface in the space you have available. When you have a small space sometimes you want to just fit as much table in as you can. Other times though, it’s better to have comfortable walkways around your table and through the space. This is where rounds and ovals come in. The less of a corner there is, the less there’s something to walk around. Every shape provides a different balance of these two. A rectangular table with rounded corners can be a great way to get lots of space with a little extra ease of movement. Another interesting option is to join two shapes together. For example, this half rectangle half oval table fits great with a banquette. Actually, this specific trick is really useful with banquettes.

FUNCTIONALITY
One of the other things to consider is if you want extensions. If you have a space that’s flexible enough to only have a small table most of the time, but a bigger table would work on occasion, then an extension is great. Like if you can push a couch up against a wall to extend your table when you need, great. If you don’t have to move anything to extend your table then you may just need a bigger table to start. Flexibility is nice, but so is just having the right table. But that really all becomes a question of how you plan to use the space.

Of course it’s still important to make sure you get a table that fits in your space, but for now I wanted to talk about some of the other details that go into making a great table for small spaces. If you have a small space, reach out! We’d love to help figure out the best solution for you.
