We have a lot of great ideas at Loewen Design Studios. Usually we’re figuring out good ways to solve people’s problems, but every once in a while we get to have an idea just to have one. Just because we think something might be good in the future.
This was one of those.
We build tables with fluted pedestal bases. You’ve probably seen pictures of them on our website and socials. We build them for extension tables, where the base splits in half. But we wondered about what to do for a long extension table? What if the extensions need a little support in the middle? That was what we were thinking about one day when we had an idea. What if we put a post in the middle? And made 2 macaroni shaped bases around it?
So it might sound crazy, but we loved it. It would do everything we needed and look beautiful. We called it the pokeball, because when we drew it on the whiteboard it kinda looked like a pokeball. We made a 3D model of our plan. And then that’s where it sat, for a year.
Until finally we had a need for the pokeball. And we built it. A small round table with maybe extensions, it could use the support, and it was going to look great. So we did it, and it did look great. And it worked great. We were so happy with it.
Then I got to deliver it to its forever home and everyone loved it. I loved it, they loved it. It was pretty. It was sturdy. It was easy to use and convenient. Everything about it was excellent.
And that’s the end of the story. We had an idea, waited a year, and then made it. And everything went great. Just a good story.
