Meet the Majo
Majo is one of our table finishers and our product photographer. She finishes table tops, bottoms, and legs. When the tables are done Majo takes pics of them and edits those pics so you can see what we can do. She brings her creative eye and passion for photography to show the beauty of our solid wood tables

Can you describe your role at Loewen Design Studios?
I finish tables. So I sand sometimes but most of the time I’m oiling tables and legs; oiling is definitely my favourite part of the process.
What did you want to be when growing up?
I’ve always wanted to work with dogs because my dad was a veterinarian. He was in the Red Cross in Colombia so I’ve always had a passion to work with dogs especially Belgian Malinois, which we would breed in Colombia.
What do you like most about your job?
The fact I made friends and get to work on tables from start to finish and feel accomplished when they’re done.
What do you like to do in your spare time?
I like to skateboard, play the drums, play with my dog Eleven, photography, and workout. I have a lot of hobbies because I can’t stay still and will get bored if I do one thing for a long time. So I switch it up.

If you could switch your job with anyone else within LDS whose job would you want?
I would switch with Tristan because I would still be able to work with the tables. I’m someone who loves physical work and I like working with the tables from start to finish. If I can’t pick someone that does what I do then I would pick Sharon because she gets to sit in a comfy chair all day.
Before working at lds, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
I did fruit arrangements when I lived in Ottawa. I would make bouquets made out of fruit and chocolate covered strawberries, also chocolate covered Oreos and much more. I think it’s the most interesting job I’ve done because I never thought I would’ve ever done that in my life. And I also got pretty good at it.

Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us.
I was born in Colombia and moved to Canada when I was 7 with zero English, only Spanish. I also got married to my wife who’s French Canadian when I was 23 so now I’m multilingual (my French is getting better everyday)
What would people never guess you do in your role?
That not only do I work sanding and oiling the tables but I also do photography for LDS which I really enjoy because I love photography and I enjoy being creative.
