Meet the Jordine

Jordine works with us in admin. She is an expert of all things administration She is also a sample packer, border planner, and even helps us with the laser engraver. She is an essential part of our team and we are so happy to have her.
What's your role here at Loewen Design Studios
I do a handful of administrative things. My daily tasks include placing purchase orders, reviewing inventory, and creating some of our website listings. I also help Sharon and Ted with customer service a couple of times a week. Recently I’ve started learning to make some structural edits to our database, so I’m getting a little bit into programming as well.
What did you want to be when you were growing up?
I always wanted to be some kind of artist. I started out wanting to be an author, then a visual artist, then an animator, then an actor, then a stage manager. I eventually realized that I didn’t have the energy to make any of that a full-time job. But now I guess you could say that art is kind of my side gig?

So what do you like most about your job?
I really love learning and trying new things (and feeling smart when it goes right). So since I started learning to write code in our database, I’ve just been elbow deep in documentation, having fun with the trial and error of it all. These little coding projects have been something I really look forward to each day.
What would people never guess you do in your role?
I pack and ship our sample boxes! So, when you order a set of colour swatches from us, I’m the one that puts it together and ships it to you. I’m also the one who gets the fun of using the laser engraver to mark our newer samples.
So what do you like to do in your spare time?
I spend most of my spare time playing with my dogs or in calls with my friends, playing video games online. Recently, my partner and I have been playing a survival game called Raft and I think we’ve played an average of 3 hours every day after work.

If you could switch your job with anyone else here at Loewen Designs who's job would you want?
I think it’d be super fun to do precolor and oiling like Tristan and Majo often do. It’s just so satisfying seeing it get applied!!
Before working at Loewen Design Studios, what was the most unusual or interesting job you’ve ever had?
I taught theatre/drama to little kids after school for a few months! But I mean super little kids, starting from age 3, so it was really just babysitting. 3-year old kids do not care about scripts. We had to do a showcase for their parents at the end of the program, but the kids just ended up pretending they were dragons.
Tell us something about yourself that would surprise us.
I run my own stationery shop! It’s an online art and stationery store called Blue Moon Paper. My biggest passion is stationery, so I decided to join the community as a creator. It’s a lot of work alongside everything else I do, but it’s super fulfilling.

Describe Loewen Design Studios in three words
Passion, comfort, quality.
What is your favourite table?
We did this super unique black hexagon extension table on a gold Sproat base. As soon as it started coming together in the shop, Jared and I thought it would make a perfect board game table.
