This square center extension table is made of solid walnut. The 42” x 42” base size we photographed is perfect for 4 people. When you add the 2-12" leaves you can seat 6. This table top is just over 1" thick and has been made with locally sourced walnut. We finish the walnut with an all-natural oil that we hand rub into the wood. It gives the wood a matte finish. We like this finish because it is durable having been originally designed for floors and is food safe. More details about this table are listed below.
This table is a center extension table which means that there is a split in the middle of the table where it pulls apart. You can add one or both of the leaves here. With center extension tables, the grain always runs across the table. More information can be found here.

Once my table was shipped , it arrived as expected and in perfect condition. I did need an extra pair of hands to put it together. I love the fact that it is a Canadian company. I can't even with this beautiful table! The details weren't apparent in the shop photos, but in person the table is super high quality. Everything is perfectly finished: like the subtle mitered corners in the close up photo. The design is simple but they really pay attention to details. Worth the wait. We got the walnut extension in natural with 2 leaves.
The studio created a custom black walnut table for us, and we purchased our own pedestal base from Etsy. The final look is incomparable to any table I've purchased. The wood is silky smooth. I find myself constantly touching it because the feel and look are stunning. You can tell the tabletop was crafted with loving care, and the team was really supportive in helping me select the base and provide guidance to the manufacturer to properly design it to accomodate the wooden top. They even helped me attach my custom base to the top, with utmost care and precision. We're obsessed! Can't recommend them enough.

The last piece of our recent remodel was to find a table that would fit in our newly created kitchen nook. I first saw the table design - racetrack oval with a Jarvis pedestal base - when I was scrolling through Etsy, and it was just what I was looking for. Ted and Sharon were so responsive and helpful with all my questions throughout the process, and we absolutely love the final product! The wood (blackened walnut) is just gorgeous and the table fits perfectly into our nook. The personalized delivery service was wonderful too! We look forward to many years of family gatherings and grandkids around this table!
The live-edge table from Loewen Design Studios will be a statement piece in my house for many years. It is beautiful, functional, sturdy and original. The service was fatnastic with great communication and transparency. It was also wonderful to know that I was supporting a local Canadian business. The table is beautiful! We got the Jarvis white ash oval pedestal table, and it has such an elegant color and form. I had a lot of trouble finding an oval table that didn't look circa 1980s, and this gem has clean contemporary lines and looks timeless. The entire process was smooth and the delivery was excellent. We were under construction at the time and the delivery team was so accommodating, helping us move it to a safe place in our basement until we could set it up, and made sure we had all the supplies we needed - normally they set everything up for you. This group obviously takes a lot of pride in their work and it really does show. Highly recommend!
This was one of the best decisions I have took a chance on. It seemed surreal a couple people would drive my custom table down to Mississippi all the way from Canada. But that’s indeed what happened. They were friendly, helpful, and communicative. I even had to have a last minute change and they made it happen! It is stunning and I get many compliments.

We are so pleased with our very handsome Loewen table, handcrafted of maple in a bourbon stain with black steel A-legs! Because we were able to customize the size (42" wide - this width is not common in retail stores! and 72" long plus two 18-inch end-extensions) it is perfect for both daily meals for just my husband and me, and special gatherings with our extended family.
