How to Care for Your Table
At Loewen Design Studios we use Rubio Monocoat to seal and protect all our tables. We do this for it’s beautiful, long lasting finish, as well as its ease of maintenance. That being said, we have a couple guidelines on caring for your table.
- Try to use a coaster for your drinks. If you forget, no worries, try to wipe up any ring left as early as you can.
- Use a trivet for hot things like pots or pans. If you forget, and it’s a hot pot, your table will not be happy.
As a solid hardwood table, it doesn’t love heat or water. It’ll hold up quite well but some care is always best.
If you need to clean the table, most spills wipe up well with a warm damp cloth, especially if you wipe up relatively soon after the spill. For more stubborn spills, Rubio offers a surface cleaner that works with the oil we use to finish your table. We’ve included a small bottle of it with your table. Just spray it on the table and wipe with a paper towel.
Tables are an integral part of our life. We eat, work and play on them, often for multiple hours a day. Because of this, it’s reasonable to expect them to show some wear and tear. If your table gets too many of these ‘life marks’ and you’d like to start fresh, you can sand down the top and refinish it with Rubio. It’s zero VOC’s and its ability to be applied by hand makes it very easy to do in the comfort of your own home without have to send it away to a professional furniture refinisher. That being said, really only do this if you absolutely have to. We would suggest reaching out to us before you try that out.
