Hi, I hope you’re doing well. I hope 2025 has treated you well, I hope there’s been moments to laugh, to see your loved ones, to sit. I hope there’s been time for everything you’ve wanted to do.
Here at Loewen Design Studios we’ve had a great year. Also a terrible year. It’s been an eventful year to say the least. Full of ups and downs, but one thing remained really consistent, there were great people around to share in the ups, and work through the downs. We have a really good team here, one I’m really proud to be a part of.
But enough with all the feelings, what did we do? What were those ups and downs? I won’t get into them all, but let’s take a look at some of the highlights.
We’re moving, and while we haven’t quite moved yet, we’re on our way! Our new home is going to be a brand new building, so it’s taking a bit of time to get it all ready. But once it’s done it’s going to be fantastic. We’re really very excited to have this space. We finally signed a lease this fall and it’s well on its way, we should be moving in early January. The biggest change, besides moving about 20 minutes south, is the space. It’s twice as much room for us, which we really need.
That brings me to the second big change from 2025, we’re doing more, and we’re doing bigger. We’ve been building a lot of big tables, which all need a lot of space to move around, to make, to finish, everything. We love doing big tables, they’re all stunning to see, and a really great way to take advantage of all our abilities. And we’ve seen a bunch of them come through this year. One special one was just a couple weeks ago, a 16 foot long conference table on a new base design for us. We really loved this one.
To go along with some more, and some bigger, our team has grown too. There’s like 10 more people helping out in one way or another that are new this year. It’s been great having a few more hands to help out, to help us all find better balance between the busy and the calm.
We’ve done a couple other cool projects this year. Well we’ve done a lot of other cool projects this year, but I suppose I’ve got 2 I want to talk about today. We’ve been working on being more ready to share more different colors of finish with everyone. We took 60 finishes, 5 woods, 2 techniques, and made 600 samples. It’s a lot of color options, too many most of the time, but they’re excellent to have around.
We also finally launched our design program. I know this isn’t for everyone, but for anyone who could use a little help in sorting out the right table for their space, this is a great option. It’s a great way for our team to be able to work with you on sorting out the details of what you need. We’ve been talking about something like this for years, so to finally have something put together is really exciting.
And that was most of 2025. It’s been a good year on the whole. It’s been a little chaotic, a lot busy, and still really fun. Here’s hoping 2026 is even better.
