This blog details the design process of a functional and aesthetically pleasing pedestal extension table. Overcoming issues of stability and cost, we created an adjustable pedestal base that splits into two for extended support, inspired by the Como pedestal. Let's imagine for a moment, it was August, you confidently told your whole family that they should come to your home for Christmas dinner.

A Trestle Table is typically a table with 2 legs connected by a stretcher. The 2 legs hold the table up, and the stretcher (or stringer) supports them both structurally and visually.

There's something great about something handmade. There's something great about something real. That's why we're proud to say that our tables are handmade from solid hardwood.

New to our collection is our rustic style tables. These aren't just designed — they're crafted. The distinctive texture on the planks, a result of real saw marks, add a farmhouse charm. Even better, these marks still leave the table easy to use.

Our commitment to quality is present in every step. Each table goes through sanding and sealing more than once. This ensures a smooth finish, retaining the right amount of texture from the saw marks.

These marks absorb more stain, highlighting the wood's textured finish, showcasing the rustic-ness. Rustic-osity? Rustic-y nature? Farmhouse vibes? It makes the texture that's so wonderful in these pieces shine.

Another thing setting our rustic textured tables apart from the standard smooth tables are the finishes we offer. Choose from:

	Mocha: A deep shade of brown, reminiscent of the earth.
	Cinnamon: A warm hue with playful reddish-orange nuances.
	Smoke: A contemporary grey, intensified at the saw marks.
	Wheat: A subtle fusion of brown-grey, almost like a delicate whitewash.

All these finishes compliment the textured tables, and are great in a variety of farmhouse and rustic settings.

This August we’re introducing 2 new collections and I think it’s fair to say we are SO excited. They both have a rustic charm and are solid hardwood tables made from maple with a textured finish. Racetrack extension tables are the perfect combo of a round table and a rectangle table. The straight sides make it easy to seat people around the wood table while the rounded ends make it easy for people to walk around the table. They are one of our most popular wood tables and for good reason.

We make racetrack tables as center extension tables. What is a center extension table? Center extension tables add more space from the middle of the table. The wood table is split in the middle and can be pulled apart and more leaves added in. The racetrack table allows more of that straight edge to be added for easy hosting.

Why would you consider a racetrack extension table vs a square extension table or a round extension table?

Good question. The round extension table turns into a racetrack table when the extensions are installed making it perfect for very small spaces or wood tables that are used with 4 people or under regularly. The racetrack table is more for a family who is using it as a breakfast and dinner table on a regular basis.

A square extension table is a beautiful wood table but they have corners, a racetrack or circular table removes those corners so they’re easy to walk (or run) around. This is why the racetrack extension table is our most popular wood table for families with children.
